Report: Mishal meets in Damascus with high-ranking Syrian officials

The Jordanian weekly al-Majd said that chairman of the political party of the Hamas movement Khaled Mishal who arrived in Damascus last Wednesday held a series of meetings and political consultations with several Syrian and Palestinian leaders there.
In its most recent issue, the magazine said that Mishal met with Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam, Information Minister Muhammad Salman, the chairman of the higher national committee for following up Palestinian affairs and several leaders of Palestinian opposition factions in Damascus with the objective of discussing forthcoming Palestinian steps following the success of the three people's conferences organized by the Palestinian opposition groups in Damascus, Gaza and Ramallah.
The paper indicated that Mishal arrived in Damascus from Sanaa, Yemen after the Jordanian authorities had prevented him twice from visiting Damascus during the past two months.
