Arafat to meet with Ross tomorrow
Palestine-International, Politics, 1/11/1999
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is to receive US Middle East peace process envoy Dennis Ross on Tuesday after meeting with European Union peace process envoy Miguel Moratinos.
Arafat is meeting today a delegation of international personalities who are participating in a conference held at the Shimon Peres Peace Center, including former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, former Egyptian Prime Minister Mostaa Khalil and other persons.
Palestinian sources told ArabicNews.com that Arafat will present the US envoy and the international personalities with a detailed report regarding what is currently taking place in implementing the Wye River accord.
Israel halted its implementation of the Wye River accord soon after it signed it. Israel sighted complaints against Palestinians as not fulfilling their part of the deal, a matter which the US disagreed with in its assessment as the broker of the agreement. This halting of Israeli troops withdrawal by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from occupied Palestinian territories happened immediately after Clinton's recent visit to Palestine and Israel.
