Kuwaiti journalists oppose relations with Israel
Kuwait, Politics, 1/11/1999
The Kuwaiti Journalists Union has denounced the visit made by Kuwaiti Journalist Hamed Bu Yabes to Israel and his meetings with several Israeli leaders, foremost Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
A press statement issued by the union on Sunday said that the visit of one of its members to Israel is "a personal behavior of no relevance to the Union."
The statement stressed that what had been made by Bu Yabes was an unprecedented grave behavior and constitutes an insult to the Kuwaiti media, as the Kuwaiti media rejects any sort of contacts with Israel and because Kuwait is still in a state of war with Israel.
The statement asserted that the Kuwaiti Journalists Union will take action against Bu Yabes due to his behavior in provoking the feelings of Arabs and Muslims alike.
