Lebanon-Israel, Military, 1/11/1999
Lebanese resistance forces on Sunday at dawn attacked an Israeli patrol that was in charge of special missions in the triangle of Bani Hayyan, al-Tebah and Giberiya in al-Salawqi valley in the occupied strip of south Lebanon.
In a statement, Lebanese resistance sources said one resistance group clashed with the enemy unit for half an hour, during which machine-gun and rocket fire was used. The confrontation resulted the death and injury of soldiers who were manning the Israeli patrol, the statement said.
Meanwhile, people of the Lebanese town of Arnoun on Sunday staged a sit-in protest against the Israeli practices conducted against their town. Throughout the past three weeks, the Israeli occupation forces destroyed 21 houses in the town.
Meanwhile, the Israeli forces continued to impose a partial siege on Shabaa town while night curfew is still enforced. The occupation troops continued to storm houses and arrest Shabaa townspeople.
Earlier, the Israeli occupation forces expelled 25 citizens, including 16 children, from the town. On Saturday, the Israeli occupation forces continued their attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said the occupation artillery positioned in Wadi Abu Qamha and Tallet al-Shwreiqi shelled the heights of Jabal al-Daher, Meimas crossing and Zalaya valley in the Western Bekaa.
The Israeli occupation artillery also targeted the outskirts of Barachit, Eita al-Jabal and Tabnin towns in south Lebanon, using heavy artillery. The bombardment covered the area located between Roumin and Houmin towns in Sidon. Several shells were fired near Sabra-Rowin road. No casualties were reported. This targeted area is, however, relatively far from confrontation lines with Israel and it was the first attack for a very long time.
On Friday night, Israeli artillery bombarded the surroundings of Besrri course and the shells damaged the "Irgshi" electricity generation station.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese national resistance attacked the occupation position in Tallet al-Ahmadeyah in the western Bekaa, using rocket fire. In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said it achieved direct hits on the position.
