Israel continues shelling against south Lebanon
The Israeli occupation forces on Saturday continued their attacks against areas adjacent to the occpied occupied part of south Lebanon. On Friday, the occupation artillery positioned in al-Tibeh and al-Zaffata areas shelled Zouter west and Zouter East, Yahmour, Kafra and Yater towns. The bombardment covered the Litani river course, al-Hamra farm and the Arnoun areas.

Hizbullah party in Lebanon has condemned the Israeli occupation's destruction of fifteen houses in Arnoun town, its act of displacing 25 civilians from the occupied town of Shabaa and the detention of two Lebanese citizens from the same town on Thursday. In a statement, the Hizbullah party said that these Israeli practices seriously violate "The April Understanding," which banned attacks against civilians and houses. They also violate all the international charters and conventions. The statement stressed that such Israeli acts will increase the Lebanese people's determination to restore back their rights. Go

Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss today in Beirut met with the chairman of the PLO political department, Farouk Qaddoumi, currently visiting Lebanon. The two sides reviewed the Middle East peace process developments, especially on the Palestinian track, and conditions of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. Go

The Jordanian opposition parties have called on the media in Jordan to stop promotion of statements released by the ambassadors of the US and Britain in Amman and to abstain from meeting with them out of fears that the Jordanian media will find itself just a mere outlet to promote the policy of the two said countries. The British daily Daily Telegraph said that Abu Nidal who is accused of hundreds terrorist killings had escaped from a hospital in Egypt to one of Baghdad's hospitals of fears of the possibilities of being arrested by Western governments. The BBC quoted the paper as saying in its Friday's editorial that Abu Nidal has fears while he was in Egypt to be exposed to the same pressures he had undergone in Sudan because he had sheltered the international terrorist " Carlos" who was kidnapped in al-Khartoum in 1994 and was taken to France for trial. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is to launch a new initiative today to help members of the Group of 15 developing countries, which includes Egypt and Algeria, strengthen investment cooperation with each other. Go

France has extended Morocco a new credit line to purchase 500,000 tonnes of soft wheat from France, the French embassy in Morocco said. The credit line, whose amount was not disclosed, is destined to meet Morocco's urgent needs, the embassy said in a release. It added that the line will be accessible to private operators who import soft wheat from France. Go

Morocco's Karim Alami defeated on Friday his countryman Hicham Arazi (world No 36) to secure a ticket to the semi-final of the $ 1 million Doha tournament. Alami (world Nø72) edged out Morocco's No 1 player in three sets, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4. Go
