Israeli plans to build new Jewish settlement in Palestine
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/9/1999
The Israeli government has given the green light to construct a new Jewish settlement in the heart of the city of Al-Khalil (Hebron), radio Palestine reported.
The broadcast quoted Israeli sources on Friday as saying that the plan is part of a program to expand the construction of Jewish settlements in the Arab city.
The plan is made up of two projects: the first includes a build up of permanent houses and flats at Al-Rumadeh hilltop. the second plan, which has already started, is to construct a four-story building in Bait Hadas near the holy mosque.
The Israeli "Peace Now Movement" has denounced the Israeli government's green light to launch the new settlements in Hebron, and renewed calls for banishing extremist Jewish elements form the Arab city.
