Morocco and Japan conclude accord to build fishermen village in Safi

Morocco and Japan concluded an accord providing for the construction of a fishermen village near the Moroccan city of Safi (350 km south of Rabat).
The village will include port infrastructure and will be endowed with fisheries equipment in addition to urban infrastructure.
The Project is destined to increase local fishermen income, enhance their living conditions and increase fish production in the area, known for its long fishing tradition.
The accord --concluded on the occasion of Japanese minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forests, Shoichi Nakagawa-- is part of a large-scale Moroccan-Japanese cooperation program providing, inter alia, for the consolidation of partnership in seamen vocational training, halieutic resources protection, fish farming and processing.
The Japanese minister, who arrived on Thursday in Morocco, was received Friday by Crown Prince Sidi Mohammed.
He also conferred with some members of the Moroccan government, including foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Abdellatif Filali, and agriculture, rural development and fisheries minister, Habib Malki.
