Regional, Politics, 1/9/1999
14 Arab states agreed to participate in the Arab foreign ministers' meeting to be held on January 24. Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid denied any movement among the Arab states to delay the meeting.
Abdul Meguid said there is an Arab agreement to convene the conference on the new date, adding that Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are the ones that objected to convening the conference last month, buy they officially agreed to convene the meeting on the new date.
The efforts to delay the conference from its original date succeeded when Egypt mediated at the Arab League's security council to delay the conference in order to give the ministers a chance to specify the issue that will be raised during the meeting.
