Lebanese president denounces new Israeli act of piracy
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 1/8/1999
Lebanese President Emile Lahoud on Thursday denounced the Israeli destruction of Lebanese homes in Arnoun, saying, "It falls in the course of an Israeli plan of daily aggressions against Lebanon's security and sovereignty."
Upon presiding over a Lebanese Cabinet meeting on Thursday, President Lahoud stressed that, "Syria and Lebanon are standing in the same trench and their track is but one."
He added that the Israeli attacks would only increase the Lebanese people's "commitment to their cause and their adherence to their territories."
President Lahoud stated that the aggressive acts committed by Israel would not "undermine our determination to continue our set plan," it would rather enhance Lebanon's commitment to its national principles.
