Morocco's Alami edges Korda out of Qatar Open

Morocco's Karim Alami defeated defending champion Petr Korda by 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-3 Tuesday in the opening round of the $1 million Qatar Open.
The Czech tennis star was making his first appearance since it was revealed that he had tested positive for drugs at Wimbledon last year.
Korda, seeded fifth, faced an energetic opponent who has produced some of his biggest victories on the hard courts in Doah. In 1995, Alami upset No. 1-ranked Pete Sampras.
