Palestinian-Egyptian-Jordanian meeting to coincide with Ross' return
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 1/6/1999
A Palestinian source told ArabicNews.com that a Jordanian - Egyptian - Palestinian meeting is to be convened on a high-ranking level in Amman during the coming week, coinciding with the return of US peace process envoy Dennis Ross to the region on January 10.
Moreover they agreed upon holding this meeting within the framework of trilateral coordination between the three countries, where the meeting will be held on the Israeli government's halting of the peace process and the election campaign in Israel.
Ten days ago, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his Palestinian counterpart Yasser Arafat discussed a plan for Palestinians and Egyptians to move on the Arab and international levels to enhance the Palestinian situation, during this period which the two parts consider to be a decisive one for the self-determination of the political map in the region generally and the peace process especially.
The Palestinian - Egyptian initiative includes mechanisms to assure the integrity of current agreements, especially in the light of the call for early elections in Israel and the importance of continuing pressure on Israel to abide by implementing the Wye River accord.
