Qatari stock market occupies first place among Arab markets
Regional, Economics, 1/6/1999

The Qatari stock market achieved the best Arab performance in 1998 scoring an increase of 35 percent.

Morocco's stock market came in second place with gains of 19.8 percent. The Egyptian stock market came in third, and the growing Palestinian stock market occupied the fourth position despite havinmg small capital evaluation relative to other Arab stock market.

The United Arab Emirates' local stock market occupied the fifth position and the Tunisian market came in sixth, two places higher than last year when it occupied the eighth position.

On the other hand, the Bekit center for financial analysis said that Saudi Arabia occupied the tenth position, suffering losses amounting to 27.8% of its value, to the position it held in 1996, yet the analysis related this reduction to falling oil prices.
