Switzerland demands compensation from Cairo
Egypt-Switzerland, Politics, 1/4/1999
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received a written communique from the foreign minister of Switzerland, Flavio Cotti, in which Switzerland is calling on Egypt to make financial reparations to families of the victims of the 35 persons from Switzerland who died in the 1997 Luxor incident.
In 1998, Cotti sent a communique to Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, reminding Moussa that relatives of the victims do not know whether Egypt is going to present compensation to them or not. After the Luxor incident Moussa has stated that the government is examining this issue.
The communique stated that they want to know whether Egypt intends to take the financial initiative or not.
