Somali opposition factions oppose Cairo agreement

Leader of the Somali region of Puntland, Col. Abdallah Youssef Ahmed, stated his country's opposition to the Cairo reconciliation agreement.

After his meeting with Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid, Abdallah Youssef said the Cairo agreement was not proceeding naturally and it has proved to be a failure.

He also added that the Baidoa conference for reconciliation has lost its effectiveness and that the members did not stick to the agreements they reached.

Then he called for forming administrative provinces to achieve reconciliation in Somalia, adding that he explained to Abdul Meguid the current situation in Puntland and the attempts to gather Somali separatists, affirming that he is greatly concerned about Somali unity.
