GCC's development's strategy

The Gulf Cooperation Council's supreme council in its 19th session in Abu Dhabi recently approved a draft of the unified strategy for industrial development in the GCC states, following recommendations by the GCC foreign minister council's 69th session.

Mohammed bin Hamad al Ghailani, director of industry, training and technology at the GCC secretariat - general, said the GCC states would work to adopt the strategy when devising development plans.

Al Ghailani outlined the objectives of the strategy:

A) Speeding up of industrial development keeping the concerns of the GCC states as a whole well as the individual state's requirements in mind.

B) Increasing the standards of development to double the added value aggregate.

C) Increasing national manpower to a minimum of 75% in the industrial sector.

D) Trying to maximum benefits from domestic natural resources.

E) Encouraging the decentralization of industries.
