Iran, Iraq for developing bilateral relations
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 12/31/1998

Iranian Shoura Council (parliament) Speaker Nateq Nouri met on Wednesday in Tehran with the Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi National Assemby, Ojeil Ismael, currently visiting Iran.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations, especially the issue of prisoners, noting mutual desire to solve this issue.

Nouri condemned the US-British attacks on Iraq, stating that these attacks were in contradiction to international norms and charters. He added the "unipolar policy is rejected," adding that, " Iran calls for maintaining Iraq's independence and territorial integrity and condemning those who plan to dismember Iraq."

The Iraqi official, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with visiting Iran and welcomed the formation of a parliamentary friendship society between the two countries.
