More Israelis killed, wounded in south Lebanon

Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday bombarded the villages and towns in the western and central sectors of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said Israeli artillery positioned in Muhaibib and Ballat shelled the towns of Kafra, Yater, Zebqin, and al-Boutom mountainous areas, and Majdal Zoun in the western sector.

Israeli troops and the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army militia opened heavy machine gun fire at Habboush bridge which links al-Nabatiyah city to al-Tuffah district, while a mopping-up campaign was launched in al-Tuffah district's mountainous areas and the course of the Litani river.

Furthermore, the Israeli occupation forces continued to launch attacks on areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said that Israeli heavy artillery and mortar guns attacked the outskirts of Kafra, Yater, Zouter, Haris, Yahmour and Arnoun towns as well as al-Hamra farm and the course of the Litani.

On Wednesday, Lebanese resistance forces attacked two military positions of the Israeli occupation troops and their SLA allies in Rashaf and Hamid areas in the occupied part of south Lebanon.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said its fighters used rockets and machine-gun fire against the two positions, which were directly hit. Later in the day, Lebanese resistance forces attacked an Israeli engineering unit while checking the place where the resistance men on Tuesday night detonated an explosive charge along the Beaufort - Arnoun road.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said a number of the engineers were killed or wounded as a result of the attack. The statement added that the resistance forces were able to halt reinforcements the Israeli troops were trying to advance to Beaufort position.

On Wednesday afternoon, Lebanese resistance fighters attackedd an Israeli mechanized patrol along the Sujoud Rayhan road, according to a resistance statement.

In another statement, the Lebanese resistance said that one of its groups rocketed and machine-gunned a pro-Israeli force patrolling near Beer Klab position inside the occupied part of south Lebanon. The same position was attacked by another resistance group, and heavy casualties were inflicted among members of the patrol and soldiers manning the position, the statement added.
