Lebanon announces new measures for exports to Baghdad

The economic affairs directorate at the Lebanese Foreign Ministry has announced in a statement to Lebanese traders and industrialists who export to Iraq "new measures" to carry out the oil-for-food program concerning ratification of export certificates.

The statement indicated that the international Lloyds company, which is contracting the UN and entitled to ratify trade bills for commodities and foodstuffs exported to Iraq in the course of the oil-for-food program has closed its offices at the Iraqi port of Um al-Qaser, in the al-Walid district on the Jordanian-Syrian borders and Tribeil district on the Jordanian Syrian borders, whereas its offices in Zaku district on the Turkish-Iraqi borders "still carried out its work in ratifying and signing trade bills as usual."

The statement of the Lebanese Foreign Ministry explained that the stamp of Lloyds company are considered "basics to pay sums to be paid for exporters to Iraq in the course of the oil-for-food program."
