Iraq: We will not recognize no-fly zones
Iraq-USA, Politics, 12/29/1998
Iraq has asserted that it will not respect the no-fly zones currently imposed by the US on northern and southern Iraq, despite yesterday's clash in which four Iraqis were killed. Iraq claims a US jet was shot down.
US Pentagon spokesmen denied Iraqi claims that a US jet was shot down over Iraq yesterday. A spokesman said that because of bad weather today US and British fighter planes did not patrol the northern no-fly zone in Iraq, which was the site of yesterday's clash in which both sides blamed the other for firing first.
