Morocco launches program to save livestock from dry winter

Morocco launched last week a program, worth 196 million dh ($21.3 million), to save its livestock, an official at the agriculture ministry said.
The program that will extend to next February all over Moroccan regions consists in supplying the markets with livestock feed and the state will supervise the importation of 150,000 tons of wheat that will be sold to farmers at preferential prices and will pay for the transport and distribution of the animal feed to agricultural cooperatives.
The official added that the program, adopted to counter threats of another dry winter, also earmarks 20 million DH ($2.17 million) for the livestock health and water points.
