163 soldiers freed as another sign of Sudanese seriousness about liberties

Sudanese Minister of Defense Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Suleiman issued a decision that dropped the remainder of sentences for 163 soldiers.
The soldiers who are prisoners in Cober prison who were judged according to the armed forces law after committing field breaches during their military service, including soldiers convicted on charges of financial corruption.
General Mohammed Issac Gabriel said in press statements that the decision expresses the seriousness of the current endeavors to create a foundation for the country that guarantees liberties and establishes a democratic atmosphere in light of the developments that will be witnessed soon by the country.
Sudan has indicated that it will improve the freedom of the press and will allow for the creation of multiple parties.
