Violent acts continue in Algeria

An armed group on Sunday attacked al-Khamis city to the west of the Algerian capital Algiers with mortar fire, wounding some 20 persons. Citizens of the city said the bombardment provoked horror among citizens.

Meanwhile, the Algerian daily "Sawt al-Ahrar" said that the Armed Islamic Group kidnapped two shepherds near Istanbul woods in Muaskar province and stole their cattle.

Another armed group attacked a house in al-Ammareyah in Medea province, stole its components and planted three bombs inside it.

For its part the Algerian daily al-Khabar said that some 25 persons were slightly wounded in an attack against Khamid Melyanah city in Ain Defla province. The paper added that one member of the municipal guard was killed following a bomb explosion placed near Awlad Balfudeil in Ghardaia.

On Saturday the armed groups kidnapped four young men from al-Morouj village in Bouira province.

For its part, the Algerian daily al-Alam al-Seyassi ( the political world) said that the Algerian security forces were able to defuse a booby trapped car in Khamid Melyana city on Saturday. The car was parked on a very crowded street.
