Arafat and Abdul Meguid ask US to focus on Israeli implementation of Wye
Palestine-Regional-USA, Politics, 12/28/1998
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid asked the U.S. to play a role in forcing Israel to implement what was agreed upon in October at the Wye Plantation.
In a press conference that was held at the conclusion of their talks at Arab League headquarters, they stressed the necessity of the Israeli government's implementation of what was agreed upon.
Arafat accused the current Israeli government of evading the implementation of what was agreed upon and said that the internal current developments in Israel and the Israeli attempts not to implement the accord is an attempt to evade what was agreed upon, confirming that the Israeli Knesset agreed with a majority of 75 votes in favor of the Wye River accord.
