April Understanding committee meets on civilian attacks

The April Understanding Monitoring Committee has condemned the killings perpetrated by Israeli warplanes in Jenta town in the central Bekaa, which resulted in the death of seven members of a Lebanese family (a woman and her six kids).

The committee said that the massacre is a clear-cut violation of the April Understanding, also criticizing the Lebanese resistance's response of firing Katyusha rockets into northern Israel. In a statement issued on Sunday, the committee called on Israel to take necessary measures to make sure that ist military operations will not wound or kill the Lebanese civilians or damage their properties. It also called on Lebanon not to target civilians

The April Understanding Monitoring Committee met on Saturday at the headquarters of UNIFIL in the Lebanese border town of al-Naqoura to discuss the Lebanese and Israeli complaints about violations of the understanding, which bans attacks on civilians, targeting populated areas, or launching attacks from populated areas.

Members of the committee discussed the Lebanese complaint against the massacre perpetrated by the Israeli warplanes in Jenta, which resulted in the massacre of a Lebanese woman along with her six children.

The committee also discussed an Israeli complaint about firing Katyusha missiles against northern Israeli settlements by the Lebanese resistance forces. The Lebanese resistance affirmed that its bombardment of the Israeli settlements was in retaliation to the Jenta killings.
