Aid for Yemen to fight malaria
Yemen, Health, 12/26/1998
The Yemeni authorities say the country has received more than six million dollars in international aid to fight malaria.
Yemen's health minister, Abdullah Abdel-Wali Nasher, said the aid had come from a variety of donors, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the European Union.
He said the money would be used to set up a research center to fight malaria.
The disease is reported to have killed more than two thousand people in Yemen in the last three months, with more than 700,000 Yemenis being infected between September and November.
