Arafat may meet with Hawatmeh in Cairo

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat held on Wednesday in Ramallah in the West Bank meetings with a delegation representing the leadership of the Democratic Front for the Libartion of Palestine.

The delegation included Qeis al-Samarri, and Fahd Suleiman who are the two members of the front's political bureau. Following the meeting, the sources said that measures have been taken in preparation for convening a meeting between Arafat and Hawaenah in Cairo soon.

But the media secretary at the Democratic Front said that the organization has no knowledge of a meeting "between Arafat and Hawatemah in Cairo recently."

Arafat, on the other hand, expressed appreciation for the position taken by the Democratic Front in confrontation of attempts to finding an alternative representation for the PLO. This was in reference to the disputes that emerged between the Democratic Front and other Palestinian opposition factions at a recent conference held in Damascus.
