New Israeli carnage in Bekaa as Israel kills eight Lebanese civilians
Israeli war planes on Tuesday launched two air raids on the central sector of the western Bekaa, in eastern Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said that two Israeli planes fired four missiles at Jenta town close to the city of Baalbek. Fifteen minutes later other Israeli jet fighters bombarded again Jenta and the town of Serghin, firing eight rockets.

French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin said that efforts should be exerted to restore the UN Security Council's role concerning the Iraqi crisis. Jospin said Paris's proposals to draw up a new plan to supervise Iraq's armaments and to seek the lifting of the oil embargo are compatible with the objectives the UN wants to realize. Go

Sources at Gaza airport said that a new flight was inaugurated between Gaza airport and the Cairo airport and the first flight was made on Tuesday between the two airports. Go

Kuwait's first Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad said that his country was dragged into being involved in the US-British military strike on Iraq. In a telephone call with the London-based " al-Sharq al-Awsat" daily issued on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti FM added that Kuwait is not a side in the current events, "but we have been dragged to be involved and this is a conspiracy that we have strongly refused." US Defense Secretary William Cohen is expected to visit Kuwaiti today, the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am reported on Tuesday. The paper added that Cohen will discuss with high-ranking Kuwaiti officials the military and political conditions in the region after the halting of Operation Desert Fox. Go
