Donor states seek to present $3 billion in aid to Egypt
Egypt-International, Economics, 12/23/1998

Donor states decided to convene a two-day meeting in Paris on February 12 with the participation of Arab, US and European representatives, in addition to the major financial corporations.

An official source said today that the conference will discuss the coordination of the financial and technical aid that will be presented to Egypt during the coming year, as well as overviews of the Egyptian economy, the government's policies and the problem of investment, expecting that the total aid would amount to about $3 billion.

The sources added that several committees will be formed in cooperation with donor states' representatives, the International Monetary Fund and and World Bank before the conference convenes to discuss the issue of fighting poverty and other social problems.
