Turkey signs trade agreement with Israel
Turkey-Israel, Economics, 12/23/1998
The Turkish daily al-Zaman said on Tuesday that during the recent visit by Turkish Prime Minister Mesout Yilmaz to Israel a trade cooperation agreement was signed with Tel Aviv that will help limit US restrictions on Turkish exports to the US.
The paper added that the Israeli ambassador in Ankara, Uri Barnar, stressed that according to the trade agreement between the two countries, products jointly produced by Israel and Turkey will not be subject to US imports restrictions.
The paper noted that Barnar is making efforts to assert to producers of Turkish textiles that the Turkish textile sector will be revived through giving it a chance to overcome its economic problems in exporting textiles to the US.
