Palestine to have Moroccan airliner service twice weekly
Palestine-Morocco, Business, 12/22/1998
The Moroccan airliner "Royal Air Maroc" will launch as of next February two weekly flights to Palestinian Gaza airport via Cairo.
The Moroccan carrier and the Palestinian Civil Aviation Authority agreed last November on the launching of the flights on the fringes of the official inauguration of the Yasser Arafat International Airport
A Moroccan delegation, including ministers, businessmen and journalists, had attended the dedication ceremony of the first Palestinian airport, symbol of Palestinian sovereignty and statehood.
The Moroccan plane was the second Arab airliner to touch down at the $ 250 million Palestinian airport, whose construction was completed two years ago but whose functioning was blocked for security arrangements with Israel.
Under an agreement passed in 1995 with the Palestinian civil aviation authority, the Moroccan National Airport Office supervised the building of the airport and trained Palestinian personnel to ensure its functioning, maintenance and management.
