Rights and liberties in Arab world discussed in symposium on human rights

The Arab Organization for Human Rights held a symposium yesterday on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.

Representatives of general union for Arab journalists and Arab union lawyers' union, the Arabic center for human rights and Asian part in the symposium.

In the opening session, the Arab Organization for Human Rights' Secretary General Mohamed Faek confirmed that the symposium discussed the form of the Arab human rights movement and methods of dealing with human rights issues, saying this is not only to be an occasion for celebration but for consultations and discussions on the status of human rights in Arab states.

Faek also took this opportunity to call on Arab governments to defuse conflicts with human rights organizations and apply criteria to protect those who work in human rights.
