Relations between Iran, Egypt highlighted

Deputy chairman of the Iranian Shoura council Hassan Rouhani met on Wednesday in Tehran with the chairman of the foreign policy committee at the Egyptian parliament, Amin Mubarak.
Rouhani welcomed the development of relations between Tehran and Cairo and stressed Iran's readiness to maintain political, economic and cultural cooperation with Egypt. He said that Iran and Egypt are linked by numerous common ties and can cooperate in challenging threats launched by Israel in the region and actively take part in the NPT against the redeployment of weapons of mass destruction.
Amin Mubarak noted Iran's key role in the region, the Islamic world and international arenas. He stressed that high-ranking officials in the two countries intend to develop bilateral relations in various fields.
Amin Mubarak expressed thanks to Iran, which seeks the unity of the Islamic world. Earlier, Mubarak took part in the preliminary meeting of the Islamic states parliaments federation which concluded deliberations on Tuesday.
