Lebanese parliament speaker confers with US ambassador

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Tuesday received the US ambassador to Lebanon, David Satterfield, who was accompanied by the new US charge de affairs to Lebanon, David Hale. Talks dealt with bilateral relations and the situation in south Lebanon.
Following the meeting Satterfield said that talks dealt with the situation in the region and the visit made by US President Bill Clinton to Israel and Gaza. Satterfield asserted that his country backs restoration of stability and peace in south Lebanon, noting that the US has contacted all sides to achieve calm in south Lebanon.
