60 Tunisian petroleum wells to be dug in the next five years
Tunisia, Economics, 12/14/1998
A source in the Tunisian Ministry of Industry stated that about new 60 petroleum wells are to be dug to offset falling local petroleum production, because the stock has run out in the four main fields: El-Berma, El-Zawia, Bala and Tazerka.
The sources said that the digging of new wells will last for five years at a rate of 12 wells every year, and that the authorities intend to give a chance to private sector companies to take part in digging the new wells.
Meanwhile the sources said that the council of deputies will amendment the law regarding oil exploration. ArabicNews.com learned that the government will provide new incentives for petroleum companies, such as reduced taxes to encourage their participation in investment projects with the governmental petroleum company.
