Egyptian report tells of Israeli violations of Wye River accord
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 12/12/1998
Cairo has monitored Israel's violations of the Wye River accord since its signing on October 23.
A report by a group of the Egyptian diplomats said the volume of Palestinian land confiscated by Israel in the Gaza Strip and West Bank since signing the accord is greater than the amount of land delivered to the Palestinian government in the first stage of Israeli redeployment.
The report, obtained by ArabicNews.com, criticized the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that Netanyahu gave orders after returning to Israel and after signing the accord to build more roads alleging to provide security for Israeli settlements and establish 24 roads, at a cost of $62 million.
It also cited a lack of credibility in the Israeli government in implementing the agreements with Palestine, as the Israel took procedures to build 20 new camps in the occupied West Bank in return for the camps it gave up during the redeployment.
