China to set up $ 5 million porcelain plant in Morocco

China will set up in Morocco a $ 5 million porcelain plant to produce annually 10 million ceramic items destined for exportation.
The plant, to be built by chinese "Shanghai Shen-Da" industrial group, will employ 150 persons. In its first phase, the unit will see to the coating and finishing off of semi-processed items imported from China before moving to the production of various ceramic items.
The project topped talks held lately here between Moroccan finance minister, Fathallah Oualalou, and a delegation representing the Chinese group.
"Shanghai Shen-Da," set up in 1984, operates also in textile, mechanics, computing, construction, construction, chemicals, metallurgy and oil semi-finished products processing.
The company, which has branches in Japan, USA, France and Canada, employs 2,000 persons in 33 affiliates.
