Jordan, Israel boost transport cooperation
Jordan-Israel, Economics, 12/7/1998
The Jordanian weekly al-Hadath reported, quoting Jordanian sources, that Israeli El Al planes and other foreign companies recently transported aircraft-engines for Jordanian Royal Airline planes from al-Lid airport in Israel to Jordan.
The weekly added that Jordanian - Israeli talks are underway to amend the transport agreement between the two sides and to increase the number of Israeli passengers using the Jordanian royal airlines. The weekly added that attempts are underway to increase the number of Israeli passengers to 700 per week instead of 54 due to the great turnout by the Israelis via Jordanian planes to the Indian sub-continent and the Far East because of the lower ticket price in comparison to Israeli prices.
The paper added that in the context of cooperation between the two sides, the Israeli Ministry of Communications permitted all foreign airlines to use Israeli airspace when heading to Amman's airport.
