US distinguishes between resistance and terrorism
Lebanon-USA, Politics, 12/4/1998
The US ambassador in Lebanon, David Satterfield, has asserted the need to respect Lebanon's sovereignty, hoping that just and comprehensive peace will be established in the region.
During his visit on Thursday to the city of Tyre in south Lebanon, the US ambassador said this visit is an expression of support for Lebanon's sovereignty and the real US support for Lebanon. He hoped his visit to the Lebanese town of Qana, which had witnessed a massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces in April 1996, resulting in killing more than 100 persons.
The US ambassador also stressed his country's commitment to achieving peace and following developments in south Lebanon. He added that his country works constantly to find solutions that will ensure security for all, adding that his country "distinguishes between resistance and terrorism and does not regard the Lebanese resistance as terrorism," but seeks to have peace established for all peoples of the region.
In another development, the Israeli occupation forces expelled Lebanese citizen Sami Youssef Nammour from the occupied town of Hasbaya. The occupation forces arrested the said citizen two weeks ago on charges of cooperating with the Lebanese resistance.
