Final results of Syrian PA elections

Syrian Minister of the Interior Muhammad Harba on Thursday in a press conference announced final results of the People's Assembly for the 7th legislative session.

He said women's seats in the new PA session will number 26, while they were at 24 in the previous session. He noted that the number of candidates for these elections was 7,361 of which 815 were women who competed for 250 seats at 8,527 balloting centers.

He said that some 7.1 million citizens of voting age cast their votes in the elections. The Syrian minister continued that the number of seats won by parties of the ruling National Progressive Front are 167, with some 83 seats for the independents.

The number of new members to the PSA is 174, while some 76 members won previous elections. He said that 137 members have BAs, 51 have secondary school certificates and another 12 members did not complete secondary school certificates.
