A round of official talks was held on Tuesday in Algiers between the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmad Attaf, during which talks dealt with the Middle East peace process, the Iraqi crisis, the Lockerbie incident and the developments in the Western Sahara peace process. Annan announced that the Polisario front stressed approval of the new proposals the UN chief made to the two conflicting sides in the Western Sahara issue, Morocco and the Polisario. Annan's proposals were approved by the UN.
