Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 11/25/1998
Lebanon has officially lodged a complaint with the April Understanding Monitoring Committee against Israel over its bombardment of Kfar Tabnit and Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa towns.
The bombardment wounded three citizens and several houses were damaged as well as other properties.
The Lebanese delegation to the committee submitted a report along with documents and a video tape showing what damage the Israeli bombardment inflicted and gave evidence of the alleged Israeli violations of the April Understanding.
The committee is expected to meet within the coming days to consider the Lebanese complaint.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday evening bombarded the surroundings of Yahmour town, al-Hamra farm, Litani river area, Farroun and al-Ghandourieh in south Lebanon.
Lebanese security sources said the bombardment was accompanied by heavy machine-gun fires and mock raids carried out by Israeli warplanes over Nabatiyeh district. Moreover, the Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier over Nabatiyeh and al-Tuffah district.
Lebanese security sources said that Israeli planes flew at medium altitude in the area of the central sector of south Lebanon, breaking the sound barrier. For its part, Lebanese resistance forces attacked the Sujoud and Beaufort positions inside the occupied strip of south Lebanon.
In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said that missiles and mortar bombs were used in the attack. Several Israeli soldiers were killed or wounded, the statement added.
