Report: Syria inks Russian weapons deal worth $1 billion

The Uniter Arab Emirates newspaper al-Ittihad reported yesterday through informed sources that Syria ratified a weapons deal with Russia, valued at more than one billion dollars, according to which Syria will obtain fighters, air defense systems and new tanks.
The newspaper said that the deal was ratified during the visit made by the Russian Minister of Defense Igor Sergiev to Damascus days before.
