Aideed calls on Libya to prevent new plots against Somalia

Somali Leader Hussein Mohammed Aideed described his visit to Libya as successful, telling ArabicNews.com in a phone call that "I have met with the real leader and spiritual father of Libyan people, President Moammar Gadaffi, where we exchanged points of view on Somali reconciliation and the methods of achieving it, as well as the Egyptian, Libyan, Yemeni and African roles in rescuing it."

Moreover Aideed said he called on the Libyan leader to launch mediation between those who are concerned and intervene to prevent the "new plots" that dividing Somalia and frustrate reconciliation.

He said, "We also asked Gaddafi to communicate with Somali factions outside and inside Somalia to achieve reconciliation and abandon any attempt that could harm reconciliation."

Libya had promissed variety of aid to Somalia including of late financial help to establish a police force to maintain order in the Somali capital Makadishu.
