Kuwaiti crown prince, Italian Premier discuss Iraqi crisis
Kuwait-Italy, Politics, 11/19/1998

Italian official sources said that Italian Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema discussed the consequences of the Iraqi crisis with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Crown Prince Sheikh Saad al-Abdullah al-Sabah.

A statement from the Italian Cabinet said that Sheikh Saad, who is on a private visit to Italy, stressed that Iraq must honor international legitimacy expressed in UN Security Council resolutions and totally abrogates the threat constituted by its weapons of mass destruction.

D'Alema expressed hope that peace and stability will be established in the Gulf region, a matter which would help to lift "the sanctions imposed on the burden of the people of Iraq."

The statement continued that Sheikh Saad and D'Alema reviewed the prospects for bilateral economic cooperation.
