AL stresses European Union's Middle East peace role

Following separate meetings with the ambassadors of Portugal, Ireland, and Croatia on Wednesday in Cairo, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Esmat Abdul Meguid urged the EU member states to apply pressure on Israel, as the EU is Israel's main economic partner, to oblige Israel to commit itself to signed agreements and the Madrid conference terms of reference.
The Secretary General of the Arab League, Esmat Abdul Meguid, has asserted the importance of an active European role in giving the Middle East peace process a push forward.
