Turkish officials in Damascus to carry out implementation of Adanah agreement
Syria-Turkey, Politics, 11/19/1998
Deputy speaker for the Turkish Foreign Ministry Sarmid Atajinli said on Wednesday that Turkish officials had arrived in Damascus to follow up on the implementation of the Adanah agreement signed between the two countries.
Atajinli added that Turkey will continue implementing the agreement signed with Syria now and in the future. "This matter is decided by Syria if it seeks to develop relations forward with Turkey," he said.
Atajinli also said that Turkey has officially asked for the extradition of Abdullah Ocalan, the chairman of the Kurdistani Workers Party, accusing him of carrying out 17,000 operations against Turkey. The Turkish deputy spokesman added that Turkey is now preparing judicial files so Ocalan can be handed over to Turkey by the Italian authorities.
