Indyk: Clinton told al-Assad of commitment to revive Syrian, Lebanese tracks
Syria-USA, Politics, 11/18/1998

US Undersecretary of State for Middle East Affairs Martin Indyk has announced that US President Bill Clinton informed Syrian President Hafez al-Assad of his personal commitment to work to revive peace negotiations with Israel on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks.

In a press conference he held on Monday afternoon in Washington, Indyk added that the US administration intends to resume efforts in order to revive the two tracks very soon.

"Nothing has changed, including the commitment of the US president, who recently sent a message to President al-Assad in which he will be entitled in this process on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks on the grounds that the Syrian, Lebanese and Israeli sides will be serious and committed to giving concessions leading to an agreement."
