Moroccan university holds conference on Pakistani poet

The University of Tetouan (northern Morocco) and Pakistan's embassy in Rabat are holding this November 20 a "commemorative function" on Muhammad Iqbal, a renowned Pakistani poet and philosopher, says a statement of Pakistan's embassy in Rabat.
According to the statement, Muhammad Iqbal is one of the greatest islamic thinkers who is considered as the spiritual founder of Pakistan, as he was one of the first muslims of the Sub-continent to have proposed the idea of a separate homeland for the muslims of India. The idea was ultimately achieved with the creation of Pakistan.
The embassy says the commemoration of the Pakistani poet "is reflective of the deep historical, religious and cultural ties existing between the people of Pakistan and Morocco and their desire to renew and strengthen these bonds."
