Argentina supports Morocco's stand over Sahara
Morocco-Argentina, Politics, 11/17/1998
Argentina supports Morocco's stand in its territorial integrity issue, said here Monday Chairman of the foreign committee at the Argentinean senate, Omar Mohamed Vaquir.
During a meeting with his peer at the Moroccan chamber of advisors (upper chamber of the parliament), the Argentinean senator called for the consolidation of cooperation relations between Morocco and Argentina and stressed the need for the two countries to develop investment opportunities.
The senator who started Sunday a work visit in Morocco also signed with speaker of the Moroccan chamber of advisors, Mohamed Jalal Essaid, minutes of the 2nd meeting of the Rabat Declaration.
The "Rabat declaration" was concluded by two countries' legislative bodies last October during the visit of Speaker of the Argentine Senate, Carlos F. Ruckauf, who is equally vice-president of Argentina. The document sketches the broad lines of cooperation between the two countries and between the two parliaments.
The two countries pledge to carry on dialogue on the whole set of bilateral and international issues, adopt similar positions at international encounters and set forth a communication system for the exchange of information on the two countries.
The minutes also call the two governments to sign conventions to prop up trade.
