Expectation of Annan's return to North Africa on December
Morocco-West Sahara, Politics, 11/17/1998

Sources in the Polisario front said today that they are expecting UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to resume his tour of the Arab Maghreb on December 2, after Annan cut short his tour on November 11 due to the developments in crisis between Iraq and United Nations.

Annan is expected to continue his tour by visiting the Saharan camps of the Polisario front Mohammed Abdul-Aziz as Annan has talked with him through phone and said he would return soon to the region.

It is said that on December 21, Annan presented a report to the Security Council on the application of peace plan in the Western Sahara and the Houston agreements. The report will contain a recommendation specifying the mission of the UN's commission for the Sahara, whose mandate will end on December 17.
